Working with GoDaddy and Small Business Server
Microsoft Small Business Server 2008 & 2011 and GoDaddy.com has partnered to make it easier to run your business and business website. After install Small Business Server there are a number of wizards to complete and customize SBS for your business. One of the wizards is to configure your internet address. The internet wizard gives you the choose to setup with GoDaddy.com. This is ideal to setup as it will run a Dynamic DNS and have a hosted location for your website. How it works is the your www.company.com will be stored and browsed from GoDaddy.com website and your remote access will be redirected to your current IP address. This article is a guide on the idea way to have your settings so they work as desired.
How it works
The SBS connect wizard will link to your GoDaddy domain using the GoDaddy account logon and password. Durning setup SBS will add the following entries to your domain manager DNS settings.
Adds A(Host) record for remote.company.com that points to the IP address of the SBS server.

Changes the MX record to the remote.company.com DNS entry.

Adds a entry for SRV pointing to the remote.company.com. The purpose of this record is to enable easy mobile device activations.
After successfull setup SBS will connect to GoDaddy and update the domain DNS settings every 10 minutes with your current IP address.
Now your server and GoDaddy are setup to handle your email and remote website. All other traffic get directed to your hosted site with GoDaddy.com
Outbound Email
Now that the incoming services have been setup the outgoing email needs to be setup. You cannot have Exchange send the emails directly out from your server as most email providers will block emails that come Dynimac IP are marked as spam. To resolve this SBS has a smart host wizard that will connect you to GoDaddy.com outbound email server. The smart host wizard will request the address of the server. GoDaddy uses smtpout.secureserver.net. Next you will be asked for the user name and password. To get access to this server you will need to use one one free credit to make an email account thru GoDaddy's account center. Once you create the email address the email address will be the user name and password for teh smtpout server. Now the smart host wizard will connect to GoDaddy and foward your email. (Limit 250/day)One bug can popup in that Exchange is unable to resolve the DNS for smtpout.secureserver.net. To resolve this create a DNS entry in SBS for that server and until GoDaddy changes the IP of that server email will successfully be relayed.
